About you
My partner and I are a young professional couple with a big passion for food and travel experiences. We were previously food influencers focusing on Instagram but have recently taken the plunge to rebrand our page into a travel-focused brand called Wanderlust by LC.
Why do you travel and look for adventures?
As our page name implies, we have a big passion for exploring the world. Travel is an amazing way to discover new experiences by immersing ourselves in new cultures and lifestyles. We find that one of the best ways to understand a culture is through their food, and we are fortunate to be able to combine two passions.
What kind of adventures do you look for when you travel?
When we travel both internationally and domestically, we look for all sorts of different experiences. They can range from a quiet and relaxing self-catered experience in a new setting or city all the way up to an experience where we indulge ourselves in a luxury getaway with fine dining and cultural events. We also have a soft spot for wildlife and nature encounters so we often look for those when we travel.
What’s your go-to travel hack?
As a couple that travels on a very frequent basis, we always tell our friends and family that the number one tip is to pack light and pack smart. Invest in some great gear like collapsible bags or travel-sized accessories and you’ll find that your travel experiences are so much more enjoyable with less weight to carry which results in less stress.
Got any gear you can’t travel without?
Our mobile phones are a must grab nowadays since they act as the ultimate multi-purpose tool including our go-to camera, map and translator. If travelling in winter, we found amazing little reusable hand warmers that have survived dozens of trips with us now. They’re not single-use like most hand warmers so they’re much better for the environment and have saved us on many a cold day.
What destination are you eager to go back to?
Although we have been fortunate enough to be able to continue our travelling domestic travel adventures in Australia due to a controlled pandemic situation in the country, we cannot wait to resume international travel and hopefully visit Europe in the near future. Specifically we would love to visit Portugal, Southern Spain and Morocco.
How do you stay safe when you’re travelling?
Planning ahead is key, making sure you book locations that are safe and accessible will make sure you don’t end up in some hairy situations. We’ve also found that pre-organising taxis and transfers in some cities have been able to help us avoid the questionable taxis and car transfers that exist in some locations. Another nifty little tool that we find invaluable is a portable door lock that acts as a deadlock, these are useful for peace of mind.
What’s the best way to experience a destination like a local?
We find that sometimes it’s as simple as asking locals for local secrets or places to visit work really well. The locals often know their home best so why not strike up some conversation, get to know a bit about them and also snag yourself a few awesome tips as well in the process?
What’s your favourite word in another language?
Thank you! I’ve lost count of how many languages we’ve learnt how to say thank you in, but it’s our first word we learn so that we’re able to show how grateful we are to locals that we’re able to visit their parts of the world and experience their culture.
When and where are you next travelling?
Our next major trip will be a self skippered sailing trip to the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia. The Whitsundays is an amazing collection of 74 tropical islands just off the coast and right next to the famous Great Barrier Reef.
