28th August, 2017 – In line with our commitment to mirror and bridge the fluctuating Australian Gender Pay Gap average, Travel with Jane can now pass on a discount of 14.1% to customers who identify as women.
As of 17 August 2017, Australia’s National Gender Pay Gap average sits at 14.3%, down 0.9% from 16% over the previous 12-month period.
This, according to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA), which crunched the numbers based on new Average Weekly Earnings data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on the same day.
In line with our commitment to covering the gap, Travel with Jane will continue to pass on the National Gender Pay Gap, as a discount to our female customers. That means customers who identify as women can benefit from a 14.1% discount on the purchase of their travel insurance policy. This discount applies to any person travelling with a female customer, on their policy.
The Gender Pay Gap is based on Weekly Earnings Data collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Data is collected every 6 months, typically in February and August, thus the Gap alters accordingly.
The Gap sat at 16.3% in January 2017, when Travel with Jane first launched the initiative. Following the February 2017 ABS Weekly Earnings Data release, the national Gap average moved to 16%, and is now at 14.1% following the August 2017 data release.
Travel with Jane will continue to offer the Gender Pay Gap Discount for a period of two years, until February 2019. The initiative will be reviewed at this point.
