What happens when one American woman learns she’s only paid 78c to her male counterpart’s dollar?
So this is America. Just, urgh. Meanwhile back home, as at August 2016, the Australian Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency* states that the national gender pay gap is currently 16.2% and has hovered between 15% and 19% for the past two decades. The Agency calculates the national gender pay gap using Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Average Weekly Full-Time Earnings data**.
A full time gender pay gap of 16.2% equates to a full-time average earning difference of $261.10 per week.***
We need to keep talking about this.
